2026 Cardel Homes Charity Golf Classic in Support of Arthritis Society Canada

A day on the golf course. A great group of people. And $92,000 raised for a program working to prevent lifelong joint problems for Alberta babies.

On Thursday, July 9, 144 golfers joined us at Scirocco Golf Club in Calgary for the 2026 Cardel Homes Charity Golf Classic. This year’s tournament raised funds for Arthritis Society Canada and its Newborn Arthritis Prevention Screening (NAPS) Project.

Giving back has always been an important part of who we are at Cardel. Our annual golf tournament brings our team together with the trades, suppliers and partners we work with every day, all in support of a cause making a difference in our community.

Helping prevent arthritis before it starts

Arthritis affects millions of Canadians, but the program we supported this year focuses on a problem beginning much earlier in life.

The NAPS Project is a partnership between Arthritis Society Canada and Dr. Jacob Jaremko and his team at the University of Alberta. Its goal is to improve screening for developmental dysplasia of the hip in newborns.

Hip dysplasia occurs when a baby’s hip joint does not develop properly. When found early, it is often treated with a soft brace. If left untreated, it can lead to mobility challenges, arthritis and even hip replacement at a young age.

The challenge is detecting it early. Current screening approaches may miss up to 90% of infant hip dysplasia cases. The NAPS team is working to change this through a portable ultrasound screening method that uses AI technology to detect hip dysplasia in seconds.

Backed by funding that includes a $1-million grant from Alberta Health, the project has already identified dozens of cases that otherwise might have gone undetected.

$92,000 raised for the NAPS Project

Thanks to everyone who took part in this year’s Cardel Homes Charity Golf Classic, we raised $92,000 for the NAPS Project and its efforts in Alberta.

Our partners have supported this event year after year, and more than 20 Cardel volunteers gave their time to make the tournament a success. Their generosity and involvement are a big part of what makes it one of our favourite days on the Cardel calendar.

We’re proud to help Arthritis Society Canada and the NAPS team work toward a future where more cases of hip dysplasia are caught early, giving more children the chance to grow up without preventable joint damage and pain.
